Cooperative Games

Captain Sonar

In Captain Sonar, you and your teammates control a state-of-the-art submarine and are trying to locate an enemy submarine in order to blow it out of the water before they can do the same to you. Every role is important, and the confrontation is merciless. Be organized and communicate because a captain is nothing without his crew: the Chief Mate, the Radio Operator, and the Engineer.

All the members of a team sit on one side of the table, and they each take a particular role on the submarine, with the division of labor for these roles being dependent on the number of players in the game: One player might be the captain, who is responsible for moving the submarine and announcing some details of this movement; another player is manning the sonar in order to listen to the opposing captain's orders and try to decipher where that sub might be in the water; a third player might be working in the munitions room to prepare torpedoes, mines and other devices that will allow for combat.

Captain Sonar can be played in two modes: turn-by-turn or simultaneous. In the latter set-up, all the members of a team take their actions simultaneously while trying to track what the opponents are doing, too. When a captain is ready to launch an attack, the action pauses for a moment to see whether a hit has been recorded — then play resumes with the target having snuck away while the attacker paused or with bits of metal now scattered across the ocean floor.

Multiple maps are included with varying levels of difficulty.

Hanabi

In this challenging cooperative card game, players work together to launch a spectacular firework display. Trouble is, it's dark out, so you can't really see what you are working with. Each player holds their cards so that only the other players can see them. They must give each other vital information and remember all the information received. Then use the information to choose which cards to play. Helping each other play the right cards at the right time is the key to creating an unforgettable show and avoid being booed by the audience.

Betrayal house on the Hill

The creak of footsteps on the stairs, the smell of something foul and dead, the feel of something crawling down your back – this and more can be found in the exciting refresh of the Avalon Hill favorite Betrayal at House on the Hill. Ugg-Tect

Club your tribemates to architectural domination. Ugg-Tect is a hilarious game of prehistoric architecture in which two teams, made of up to four players each, race to complete Stone Age structures. Leading each team is the charismatic ugg-tect, who must guide his workers to victory using nothing but a simple vocabulary of primitive grunts, a series of exaggerated gestures, and his trusty club and only he can see the plans. Spontaneous and riotously funny, Ugg-Tect is the perfect party game for cavemen (and cave women) of all ages.

Break the safe

Break the Safe is a great game for families with young children. The reasons are at least twofold: the game must be played collaboratively, or nobody wins and the longest game takes only thirty minutes. Race against the clock on the safe to collect the keys necessary to break the safe. The keys are hidden, and sometimes booby trapped. You and your fellow spies have to help each other disable the booby traps and keep the guard and guard dog from sending you to lock up.

Mysterium

A horrible crime has been committed on the grounds of Warwick Manor and it's up to the psychic investigators to get to the bottom of it. In Mysterium, one player takes on the role of the ghost and over the course of a week, tries to lead the investigators to their culprit. Each night the team will be met with visions, but what is the ghost trying to tell you? Can the psychics determine the weapon, location and killer or will a violent criminal pull off the perfect murder?

I'm the Boss

I'm the Boss is a game of deal making and negotiation where you are an investor just trying to make a deal. Through intelligent negotiations, temporary alliances, and cutthroat bargaining you will rake in millions. As the boss, you stand to gain the most, but you can find yourself quickly cut out of a deal. In the end, the winner is the investor with the most money. This popular classic was first published in German as "Kohle, Kies and Knete" back in 1994 and was nominated for game of the year. I'm the Boss has been out of print for nearly a decade but is now available for the first time in English from Face 2 Face Games. I'm the Boss was selected by Games magazine as the Best Family Game of 2004.

Pandemic

Four diseases have broken out in the world and it is up to a team of specialists in various fields to find cures for these diseases before mankind is wiped out. Players must work together playing to their characters' strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks. For example the Operation Specialist can build research stations which are needed to find cures for the diseases. The Scientist needs only 4 cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal 5. But the diseases are out breaking fast and time is running out: the team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while also towards cures. A truly cooperative game where you all win or you all lose.

Pandemic On the Brink

Has saving humanity become routine? Spice Pandemic up with new roles and events. Add a fifth player, try Legendary difficulty, or add an optional challenge: What if one disease is particularly nasty? Or, if a fifth disease is wreaking havoc? Or, even worse, if that fifth disease is being spread by a hidden Bio-Terrorist? Can your team work together to cure diseases in a world on the brink of disaster?

Saboteur

You and your fellow dwarves are digging for gold in a maze of mining tunnels. But, beware! Some of the miners are saboteurs trying to foil your efforts and steal all your hard earned gold. To find the mother lode, you must overcome cave-ins, broken lanterns and busted pick-axes. In the end, the dwarf with the most gold nuggets wins.

Saboteur 2

The dwarves are still mining and the saboteurs are still lurking around. But now the dwarves are divided into two squabbling and competing groups. They are joined by enough new dwarves for up to 12 players.  The BOSS tries to help both groups.  The PROFITEER deals with everyone.  The GEOLOGISTS hunt crystals rather than gold.  This is an expansion and requires Saboteur to play.
